Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Acupuncture

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

How Does Acupuncture Work?

As above so below. If we compare the structure of the human body with the earth, we find there are a lot of similarities. Even through the shape looks very different, when the body comes out of mother's womb, it was very similar when it was in the womb.

Ancient Chinese saints and sages revealed that human physiology is closely related to the earth and the space that the earth is existing. Like the big bang, the human body is created with two opposite energy of yin (the egg) and Yang (the sperm), which further evolved into three, three to six, six to twelve, twelve to infinity.

Energetically, in the body, there are 12 main channels which have about 365 points and 2 central channels which have 52 points totaling over 400 points covering the entire body. These points are like cell phone towers that emits energy or Qi that circulates through the body. The body is an energetic system which is constantly moving just like the earth is constantly moving in space. These points are not equal. Some emits more energy than others.

The Ancients left us a book, Huang Di Nei Jing, over two thousand years ago. They use Qi to describe the energetic network of the body. When the Qi is out of balance, the body experiences illness.

Acupuncture helps the body to balance Qi and bring health. Acupuncturists are trained with the knowledge and skills to identify the sick channel and chose appropriate points to insert tiny needles to balance the Qi.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Acupuncture is practically painless. The disposable needles are extremely thin and sterilized according to modern surgical standards. A slight tingling pressure may be felt momentarily when the needle is inserted.

It is important that the patient be relaxed and comfortable during treatment so that the desired results can be attained.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Acupuncture is a completely safe system which has no adverse effects. On the other hand, Acupuncture always brings calm and relaxation even though the treatment is for other reasons.
